Emergency Call Point System

VIGIL AssureCare is an emergency call point system which has been developed in accordance with BS5839 part 9. It has capabilities to function as a Disabled Refuge System, Emergency Help Point System or a simple Call Point System.

The system has two main components; a Master Control Panel and the Remote units. The Master Control Panel is available in eight options: 16, 32, 48, 64, 80, 96, 112 or 128 way (a larger enclosure is required for configurations above 64 way). Control panels also function as slave panels when wired into a VIGIL AssureCare system on the ring circuit loop. The Master Control Panel is normally wall mounted within a central control room, with slave panels at other locations for control of local areas, e.g. in a stairwell or fallback position. The remote units are simple to operate - just push a button to contact the Master Control Panel, a buzzer is activated on the Master Control Panel, together with a flashing LED, indicating which remote unit is calling.

The key feature of an emergency Call Point system is that it must work when needed, finding it has been vandalised or has a fault, as an emergency unfolds is a far from ideal state. Thus the monitoring of function and versatility are standard within an AssureCare system. That is why our VIGIL AssureCare system is such a market leader - it was designed with functionality and practicality equally in mind.

The system is fully digital ensuring the speech and audio clarity of the system is of high quality.

The system is fully monitored at all times - thus it is available when needed, during an emergency.

In the event of a power failure, internal batteries keep the system running for 24 hours quiescent with an additional three hours use.

Slave panels can be added to the system to give local control.

The maximum length of fire rated cable between the control panel and remote units is 200m.

Ring configuration reduces cable requirements by up to 75%, compared to a star design. Remote handsets can be located anything up to 200m from each other depending on the cable being used. Baldwin Boxall strongly recommends that soft skinned, colour coded, 4-core cable with screen is used.

The 200m distance can be extended by adding a repeater unit. Each repeater unit extends the distance by up to 200m depending on the cable being used.

The system's self-learning feature on commissioning means consecutive handsets are numbered adjacently on the master control panel buttons.

All remote area select buttons on the master can be labelled using inserts placed behind a membrane; an ID template is provided with the system or can be downloaded it from this page.

System Requirements:  

Wiring between Master Console and Secondary Master Consoles requires two (x2) 4-core cables between each Console

Enhanced fire rated four core cable with drain must be used, Baldwin Boxall recommends colour  coded.

Up to 200m cable run between handsets and control panel as standard

A ring circuit configuration must be used to wire the remotes

A repeater unit must be used if distance between units exceeds 200m

VIGIL AssureCare has simplified wiring needs. Remote units situated in strategic positions within a building are wired back on a loop to a Secondary or Master Console. The only limit on the number of remote units is voltage loss, 20-30 units is typical before such loss is critical to system performance. The wiring between the Master Console and Secondary Master Consoles is also simplified; you will only require two (x2) 4-core cables between each Console.

The cable(s) required for the loops are a 4-core with screen arranged as a ring circuit, and there can be typically up to 30 remotes on each loop. We normally recommend that you can have up to 200 metres of cable between each remote.
